If you are a teenager like me or even if you are an adult with a combination skin type, you probably agree that having blackheads is a pain!!!! About a year ago, I went searching for a product to eliminate my blackheads once and for all.
I ended up buying the Garnier Blackhead Charcoal scrub.
What it claims to do:
Blackheads will appear reduced
Skin will appear clearer and healthy-looking
Will prevent the re-appearance of blackheads
Price: R89.99 (What I paid) ($9.80) Verdict: After the first 2 months or so, I didn't notice much of a difference. Then about a month later, a blackhead started to come out. Over the following months more came out, but only 4 or 5 at most. My blackheads have definitely reduced. The only problem is that the scrub has not prevented more blackheads from appearing and more have appeared. I use the scrub 3 times a week, as it says you must. The scrub smells very refreshing, but the tiny exfoliating beads or granules can be quite rough on your skin if you rub it in too much( depending on how sensitive your skin is). Your skin can become quite dry if you do not moisturize after you use the scrub. Remember to find a moisturizer that is non-comedogenic. I have been using the scrub for about a year now and it is almost finished. I hoped it would have been able to eliminate my blackheads but it has not and so I will not be buying it again.
This is what the scrub looks like.
Exfoliates skin and removes dead skin cells
Skin is soft after use
Blackheads will reduced after a few months
A few blackheads will come out
Scrub can dry out your skin if you do not moisturize
All blackheads will not be eliminated
Scrub is quite harsh on the skin
Would I recommend this product: Yes, if you are looking to reduce the appearance of your blackheads. No, if you are looking to completely get rid of your blackheads.
Will you be buying this product again: No, because it has not been effective in removing my blackheads as I had hoped.
My final solution: I recently purchased the Young Solution range for my skin, in order to keep my blackheads under control until I go and see a dermatologist for blackhead extraction in about 2 months, and, so that the dermatologist can recommend certain products for my age and skin type(combination skin type) in order to prevent and control my blackheads.
I will post a review of the blackhead extraction and let you know how effective it was, as well as what products were recommended and how effective they were on my skin, after I see a dermatologist in September.
Hhmmmm, something we all want: beautiful, striking lips that match our outfits perfectly. Depending on the person, this might seem really difficult to achieve, especially if you don't wear makeup often. Fear not, I'm back with a few tips for everyone out there struggling to pull off that red lip. Keep on reading for more awesomeness!!
Step 1: Outline to perfection
This seems really simple until you pick up that pencil and your hand is shaking like you're about to go into surgery. Dramatic? I know. Just relax and try and follow within the lines of your lips to the best of your ability. Make sure your lipstick pencil is the same shade as your actual lipstick. It helps to buy the lipstick and pencil in the same packaging.
This is the easiest and hardest part because you are basically just moving the lipstick across your lips but you also have make sure that the lipstick does not stray from your lip line, that is why you need to apply lip liner first, to help you.
You would have already made this choice in the beginning but if you want to make any changes, here are some suggestions. If you want a matte lip, it is best to just buy a matte red lipstick and you can make your lipstick even more matte by dabbing a tissue on your lips. If you want gloss lips, you can apply red lipstick and then apply red or clear lip gloss over it.
